The University of Vermont is a public university, offering Bachelor Masters and Doctoral programs. It is the 6th oldest college in New England. Its athletic teams are members of the America East athletic conference.

History

The University of Vermont was founded in 1791. It was the first college in the United States to declare in its charter that the, "rules, regulations, and by-laws shall not tend to give preference to any religious sect or denomination whatsoever." UVM.edu:History and Traditions

The institution consists of seven undergraduate schools, as well as ninety four bachelor's programs. It also has fifty two masters and twenty one doctoral programs. The university boasts an overall student to faculty ratio of sixteen to one, with 1,059 full time and 243 part time faculty members.University of Vermont: Fast Facts
